Akisphère 2016

The Akisphère 2016 was a bit strange as we had to switch the whole tournament indoors at the last minute. Thanks to the great folks at the College of Old Montreal we had a good deal and could play in decent conditions as the weather turned pretty bad for the 2 last days of the tournament. Friday was fine for the singles prelims.

We had some visitors from the Memphis Footworks club, Walt Houston and Ben Alston, the 4th place finishers at the 2015 World Footbag Championships were in the house. Walt was also the singles finalist last year as well as the 2014 World Champion in singles net.

Well they weren't here for joking as they cleaned up the two titles. The dynamic duo won doubles pretty easily in two games against Luc Legault and Manu Bouchard. Luc had won the last 3 editions.

In singles Walt overcame a loss in the first set of his finals match against François Depatie-Pelletier to clinch his first singles  title in Montreal.

Pro Kicker production produced a video album immortalizing the complete doubles finals and the doubles semi-finals B (Luc Legault and Manu Bouchard vs François Depatie-Pelletier and Renaud Fanoni.)
